Alison Duffy, 43, born November 8, 1970, died October 3, 2014. Alison graduated from Central High School and Memphis State University with a degree in French and ESL, and received an assistantship to teach English to French high school students in Bologna Sur Mer. While at Memphis State she was manager of the Lady Tiger Volleyball Team and worked in the Athletic Academic Office under Nancy Carlile. She began her career as a teacher in the Memphis City Schools where she taught at Overton, White Station and Hamilton. She also taught at Saint Agnes Academy-Saint Dominic School and was presently teaching at the Bowie Learning Center where she taught French and tutored in both English and French. She loved her students very much. They were all a very important part of her life. She attended The Cathedral of The Immaculate Conception where she instructed the altar servers. She taught P.R.E. at Little Flower Church for three years under Father Bob Ewing. She is survived by her mother Sue Anne Duffy and one sister Stephanie Duffy Urban (George); her three brothers Pat Duffy (Margaret), Mike Duffy (Denise) and Brendan Duffy and her special nieces and nephews- Bailey Duffy Snoderly (Hunter), Cale Duffy, Halle Urban, Erin Duffy, Trey Urban and Ryan Duffy. She was preceded in death by her father Steve Duffy, and her younger brother Will Duffy. The family also wants to thank the dedicated and compassionate doctors and nurses that took such great care of her at Regional One Medical Center and her many friends for their support during her stay there. Visitation will be from 5:00- 7:00 pm Monday, October 6th at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 1695 Central Avenue, Memphis. The funeral will be 11:00 am Tuesday, October 7th, also at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Alison was a very casual person and loved her many family and friends and her dogs Dakota and Franco. The family requests that as a tribute to Alison that everyone wear tie-dyed shirts or music/ concert t-shirts to both the visitation and funeral services.
