Charlotte Jeanne Kernell

February 4, 1931 - April 4, 2022

Charlotte J. Kernell, age 91, died April 4, 2022, with her daughter, Gayle Hancock Rhodes, by her side. She was born February 4, 1931, to William Dawn “Red” and Myra Kernell in Memphis, TN. She grew up in Memphis, TN and lived a brief time in Booneville, MS, before moving back to Memphis, making it her permanent place of residence. She retired from IRS-Memphis Service Center. She enjoyed photography, bowling, and collecting and selling antiques. She was predeceased by her parents, “Red” and Myra Kernell, and her oldest daughter, Pat Hancock Ledford. Those left to remember her are her daughter, Gayle Hancock Rhodes and husband, Paul of Corinth, MS, and six grandchildren, Chris Melton of Buford, GA, Joey Ledford of Gainesville, GA, Cassie Ledford Williams of Nashville, TN, Hollye Rhodes of Corinth, of Corinth, MS, Mark Rhodes of Corinth, MS, and Drew Rhodes of San Antonio, TX. She also has eight great-children, Hailey, Denver, Alexis, Lauren, Ryder, Emmitt, and Fletcher. The family would like to recognize Jean Parish of Memphis, TN, her loyal “sister-in-Christ” for loving her and taking care of her. Charlotte Kernell was a member of St. Matthew’s Methodist Church. Her memorial service will take place at Elmwood Cemetery at 12:30 pm with Canale Funeral Directors and Grant Caldwell, Christ United Methodist Church, officiating. Memorial donations may be made at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital.
