James Joseph Cunningham III

November 7, 1952 - January 26, 2022

James Joseph Cunningham III, age 69, passed away on January 26, 2022 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, TN. Jim was born in Philadelphia, PA on November 7, 1952, first of six sons of Jim (deceased) & Joan Cunningham. The family moved to Memphis in 1968. After many years of working in the food and beverage industry, Jim retired in 2017 to enjoy golf and family life. Jim was a member of Olive Branch Country Club. He was a graduate of Bishop Byrne High School, Class of 1971. Jim is survived by his wife, Peggy Cunningham, of 38 years, mother Joan Cunningham, brothers Michael Cunningham (Darlene), Mark Cunningham (Mary Ellen), Bob Cunningham of Tampa, Fl, John Cunningham (Joanie), Fran Cunningham (Alicia) and stepchildren Nicky Meyer of San Diego, CA, Tim Meyer (Donna), Chris Meyer (Trisha), and Denise Meyer, all of the Memphis, TN area. Even though Jim had no children of his own, he leaves numerous nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that he loved dearly. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 am Monday January 31, 2022 with the funeral mass to follow at 11:00am at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1425 E. Shelby Dr., Memphis, TN 38116. Burial to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. The family welcomes donations to the Archbishop J. Peter Sartain Scholarship Fund c/o St. Paul Catholic Church as an expression of sympathy instead of flowers.
