Julie Bondurant Haygood Mills Julie Bondurant Haygood Mills died peacefully, surrounded by family on February 10th, 2022. She was born on December 5th, 1942 in Memphis, TN. She was the daughter of Julian Beasley Bondurant and Louise Harwood Bondurant. A lifelong Memphian, Julie graduated from Central High School and attended Finch College. Julie was loved by all who knew her. She deeply cherished all of her many devoted friends. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Julie was active in the Memphis community, she was Queen of Cotton Carnival in 1962, a member of The Junior League of Memphis, Little Garden Club of Memphis, Tuesday Study Club, Little Club, Noel Club and enjoyed volunteering at WKNO and St. Patrick’s Church. Julie was an avid tennis player, a painter and enjoyed a good card game. She also loved music and dancing. Julie was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Louise “Weetie” Bondurant Phillips; her husbands, James Raymond Haygood III and Micajah Sturdivant Mills. Julie is survived by her children Logan Curtis Brewer Young III, Louise “Weetie” Haygood Whittemore (John), James Raymond Haygood IV (Sarah), stepchildren Elizabeth Mills More, Lucius Lamar Heiskell (Elizabeth) and Margaret Heiskell Jefferson (Randy), and 16 grandchildren. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dorothy Price for her many years of friendship and devotion to Julie and our family. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Alzheimer’s Association, WKNO, Church Health or the charity of your choice. A Service will be held on Wednesday, February 16th, 2022 at Memphis Botanical Gardens of Memphis at 1:00 pm. Reception to follow at Weetie and John Whittemore.
