Mary Geoghegan Wilcheck
July 3, 1926 - March 27, 2022
Mary Geoghegan Wilcheck, July 3, 1926 to March 27, 2022. An extraordinary wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend died peacefully on March 27, 2022, after weathering a long illness with the utmost grace and perseverance. Mary (known as Mimi by those who loved her) was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 72 years, Frank Joseph Wilcheck. After being raised an only child in St. Louis, Missouri, Mary aspired to live a life full of family, and at that, she more than excelled. Mary leaves behind seven children: Michael Wilcheck (Sherron), Susan Jackson (Roy), Jane Burkhart, Mary Claire Campbell (Don), Anita Wilcheck, Frank Wilcheck (Amy), and Patrick Wilcheck (Cathy), as well as 17 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Her family will always remember Mary's steadfast devotion to her Catholic faith, her unwavering love and commitment to her husband, and her constant delight in her large family. This delight usually involved cooking large amounts of food for whoever happened to be around her table and always finishing said meal with ice cream from a back freezer filled with every flavor anyone could imagine. Mary will also be remembered for her constant (sometimes brutal) honesty and her amazing (sometimes irreverent) humor. Mary's faith, loyalty, love and laughter will carry on in her greatest legacy—her family. Mary believed the table was the heart of the home. If you would like to honor her in some way, gather the people you love around your table and feed them with food and love and laughter. Nothing would please her more. A private family burial will be held at the West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all of Mary's caregivers for their compassion and kindness.
