Richard Daley Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Richard Daley, a native of Pittsburgh, PA and longtime Memphis resident entered into eternal rest Saturday, June 11, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Elizabeth Julius Daley, his devoted wife of 75 years, Laverne Doyle Daley, his older brother, Bernard John Daley, and his younger brother George Daley, all of Pittsburgh, PA, a son-in-law, Michael Mudge of Lafayette, LA and a daughter-in-law, Jean Cotter Daley Bivens of Memphis. He leaves five children, Sherrie Ellender (John) of Lafayette, LA, Rick Daley of Memphis, Dave Daley (Kathleen) of Richmond, VA, Lisa Daley (Sarah) of Spring Hill, TN, and Dede O’Connell (Brian) of Huntersville, NC, 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Born July 14, 1923, Mr. Daley was a WWII Navy veteran, a private pilot and held a master plumber’s license. He retired from the Memphis City School System after 38 years of service. He was a 3rd degree Knight of Columbus with an honorary lifetime membership, having joined in 1947. Visitation will be held Friday, June 17th at St. Ann Catholic Church in Bartlett at 9:30 with Mass of Resurrection at 10:30. Burial will be at All Saints Cemetery. The family is especially grateful to Mr. Daley’s niece, Kathy Buckley Mosteller who lovingly cared for him and to the many nurses, therapists and staff at Ave Maria Home for their tender care. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Knights of Columbus council 4312 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, www.kc4312.org.
