    Robert "Bob" A. McSpadden

    September 26, 1944 - February 19, 2021

    Robert A. (Bob) McSpadden, 76, of Southaven, MS, died Friday, February 19, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto. He was born in Memphis, TN, on September 26, 1944, to John S. and Elizabeth Oakes McSpadden. Bob graduated high school in 1964 from Whitehaven High School. He began his working career at an early age beginning with lifeguarding at Whitehaven Country Club and Thomas B. Davis YMCA. He then began his long career in the finance business as a loan collector for Commercial Industrial Bank (now Bank of America), The Associates Financial Corporation as a branch manager, Commercial Credit Corporation, First Horizon Credit, and completed his career up until the time of his death with his own company, The Alpha Group, a mortgage title research company. He was a long time member of Whitehaven Presbyterian Church, first serving as a Deacon and then as a Ruling Elder. He was currently a member of Idlewild Presbyterian Church. He served as a board of trustees member of Whitehaven Presbyterian School as well as Memphis Preparatory School. He was a man of great character and integrity who always put his family first. He had many friends and acquaintances. He was predeceased by his parents, John Scott McSpadden and Elizabeth Oakes McSpadden, and his brother, John Scott McSpadden IV. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Ellen McSpadden; his daughter, Stacy McSpadden; his brother, Malcolm Oakes McSpadden (Margaret); and his sister-in-law, Trudy McSpadden Allmon (George). He is also survived by a host of loving nieces and nephews, as well as many loving cousins and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Broadway Baptist Church. A private service will be held for family and close friends.
