On January 13, 2021, Ronald Holmes LeBov, loving father and grandfather, passed away at the Memphis Jewish Home. Ronald was born in New Haven, Connecticut (1932), to Benjamin and Ann LeBov. He graduated from Milford Preparatory School in Milford, Conn where he was on the football team. Ronald went on to attend the University of Pennsylvania – Wharton School of Finance. While in college, he was a hammer thrower on their track team. Throughout his life, Ronald maintained a special friendship with two of his teammates, Paul Radenbush and George Entrup. After graduating from college, Ronald served in the Army from 9/12/55 – 9/11/1957, where he was on the Army track team, and served as the editor of the army base newspaper in Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. After his service, he worked as a partner with his father Benjamin Samuel LeBov at the tire importer/exporter, Connecticut Tire Company in New Haven, Connecticut, with affiliates in Stockport, England and Alkmaar, the Netherlands. He developed a branch of the tire company in Tampa, Florida. While living in Tampa, Ronald was a member of B’nai Brith (President) and Parents Without Partners (President). However, it was his volunteer work with the Tampa Chapter of the Jewish War Veterans that brought him the most joy. Inspired by his daughter’s (Paula LeBov) service in the Army, his passion for helping our military was reflected in all the work he did while being part of this organization. For example, he would greet returning troops, no matter what time of the day or night, at the Tampa International Airport. His father used to say, “there’s no such thing as can’t,” and Ronald’s later years were spent heeding that advice as he fought uphill battles with a series of physical afflictions – and astounding doctors with his intrepid tenacity, winning each uphill battle with strenuous hard work. In his later years, he moved to Memphis, Tennessee to be near his daughter, Karen LeBov-Keeler, his son-in-law Will Keeler and grandson Matthew Keeler. He loved and was proud of the Keeler family, and his daughter Paula LeBov of Grapevine, Texas. He is survived by his loving family, listed above and his sister Beverly LeBov Sloane of Rhinebeck, NY, his niece Alison Gaylin of Woodstock, NY, and former wife Blanche LeBov of Tampa, FL. He was predeceased by his father Benjamin S. LeBov, his mother Anne LeBov, and his sister Myrna Lebov. A Special thanks to the caring staff at the Memphis Jewish Home, and to Erica Jeffries and Aunedra Baskerville for all their heartfelt assistance. A private service will be held at the West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Jewish War Veterans - www.jwv.org/give/donate/ or to K9s for Warriors -www.k9sforwarriors.org.
