    Shirley Dean (GiGi) Jaynes Adame

    February 6, 1942 - January 26, 2022

Shirley Dean Jaynes Adame (GiGi) left this earth on January 26, 2022 at the age of 79 years. Shirley was born on February 6, 1942 to William (Slim) Jaynes and Helen Wortman Jaynes in Altheimer, Arkansas. Shirley married at an early age and gave birth to Carol Dean Adame, Elias (Leo) Adame, and Adrian Leroy Adame, all of whom preceded her in death. Strong, incredibly independent, and sassy at times, Shirley worked hard to raise three children, mostly on her own. Shirley became a grandmother at a very young age to Adelina (Lina) Adame. Upon the unexpected death of her daughter, Carol, Shirley put aside her overwhelming grief and rose to the challenge of raising her granddaughter. Shirley worked for 31 years at Dassault Falcon Jet in Little Rock, Arkansas from which she retired in May 2008. She spent her retirement years spoiling her great grandchildren. Shirley enjoyed fishing, baking, playing cards, working puzzles, and watching John Wayne movies. Shirley loved her family very deeply and would make many sacrifices for her family. She was very generous with her loved ones. She lived with her granddaughter, son in law, and great grandchildren in her final years. Shirley never lost her sense of humor and was always very kind and thoughtful to everyone around her. She allowed her loved ones to be who they wanted to be. She never forced her opinions and beliefs upon others. She chose to keep opinions and beliefs to herself in order to keep the peace. She would always forgive, but would never forget. She was the epitome of the sweet little old lady. Shirley leaves behind her granddaughter Lina Valeriano (Adrian); three great grandchildren of whom she was so proud, Victoria, Elizabeth, and Zev Valeriano; an older brother, Tommy Jaynes (Linda); and cousins, nieces, and nephews. When Shirley saw the sadness that her granddaughter was expressing as a result of what they knew was imminent, she told her, “No. No. I’ve lived a good, long life. Honor me by being happy.” A grave side service will be held at 12 pm, on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at Memorial Park Gardens, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee 38119. Please follow the yellow arrows from the front gate of the cemetery to the graveside location.
