William "Billy" Taylor Canale

William “Billy” Taylor Canale 1945-2021 William Taylor Canale 75, passed away peacefully Saturday May 29, 2021 with his family by his side. He is preceded in death by his father George Anthony III and his mother Augusta, and five brothers; Frank Sturla (Scottie), George Anthony IV (Pat), John Whitfield, Justin Dominic, and Cornelius “Conn” Thomas Canale. He graduated from Christian Brothers High School for Boys in 1964 and attended Mississippi State University, where he played football and received a Bachelor of Education in 1969. Billy showcased his kind heart after college by returning to Christian Brothers High School to work with mentors Brother Adrian Powers, FSC and Tom Nix. Billy devoted forty-four years to the school and was honored with the status as an Affiliated member of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. Those closest to him take comfort in the assuring words of the many boys he has helped mold into men. His legacy will live on. Billy is survived by his wife Margaret of 48 years, his sister Mary Arnette Michaels (Cole), and his four sons; Blair (Molly), Thomas (Shelly), Adam (Bethany), and Brett (Anne); his grandchildren Ally Roberts, Hill Canale, Kreysa Canale, Della Canale, Sophia Canale, Sam Canale, Sterling Canale, Mary Taylor Canale, and Logan Canale; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 2, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. at Canale Funeral Directors, 2700 Union Ave Ext. Funeral mass will be celebrated, Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church, 203 S. White Station Road. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family requests memorials be made to Christian Brothers of the Midwest, % of Christian Brothers Provincialate, 7650 So. County Line Rd., Burr Ridge, IL 60527.
