William "Billy" Davidson Hill

William “Billy” Davidson Hill passed away on February 14th, 2022 in Memphis, Tennessee. He was born on December 29th, 1930 in Water Valley, Mississippi. He attended Whitehaven High School where he excelled both in track and football. It was on account of an ice storm that brought Billy and Lois together one morning at the late arrivals desk at the school office. They married soon after graduation in the old sanctuary at Whitehaven Baptist Church and remained inseparable ever since. He took after his father and became a carpenter at an early age and would eventually master his trade. His hobbies included crappie fishing, bird hunting, fly-fishing trips to Alaska, dominoes, and teaching line dancing at the Lewis Center. Billy was preceded in death by his parents, John Davidson Hill and Ella Mae Hill; his sisters, Nina Joe Yeiser and Jean Stanek; and his son, Russell Frank Hill. He is survived by his wife, Lois Willson Hill; son, Wilton “Chick” Davidson Hill and his wife, Andi; daughter, Cindy Susan Hill; grandchildren and their spouses, David Hill and wife, Katie; Katy Bishop and husband, Brandon; John Hill and wife, Betsy; Casey Hill and wife, Ali; Tyler Hill and wife, Sandy; and seventeen great-grandchildren. A small family service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lewis Senior Center.
